The decision to upgrade the lighting in the Sports Hall of Woughton Leisure Centre to new LED technology was driven by a confluence of factors that prioritised both functionality and sustainability. Over the years, the traditional lighting systems in the sports hall had begun to show signs of wear and deterioration. Dimming lights, flickering bulbs, and inconsistent illumination not only compromised the overall user experience but also posed potential safety concerns during various sporting and recreational activities. furthermore, the decision to upgrade to LED lighting aligns with a broader commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability. LED lights are renowned for their energy-saving properties, consuming significantly less electricity than traditional incandescent or fluorescent bulbs. In our pursuit of excellence and expertise at JHP Electricals, we needed to ensure that our commitment to quality was paramount. Our mission was to undertake the comprehensive design, supply, and installation of an innovative LED Lighting system for a prominent Sports Hall. Teaming up with QVIS Lighting, our objective was to ensure our lighting design met the stringent guidelines set by Sports England for Indoor Sports Halls.
The significance of adhering to Sports England Guidelines was twofold. Firstly, compliance was imperative to facilitate the hosting of various competitions within the Sports Hall. Secondly, it played a crucial role in enabling our stakeholders to secure funding from the local authority.
The complexity of the project lay in the requirement to install the new LED Lighting system at a height of 8 metres, necessitating the use of suitable height access. The choice of machinery held particular significance considering both the required height and the constraints on access. Additionally, our team possesses the essential training to proficiently operate these specialized machines, ensuring a seamless and secure execution of the installation process.
After the triumphant implementation of the LED Lighting system by our adept team at JHP, Woughton Leisure Centre now boasts a brilliantly illuminated Sports Hall. This transformation not only elevates the overall experience for both the public and competitive players but also translates to substantial cost savings on energy bills. In addition, the initiative aligns with their commitment to environmental responsibility by significantly reducing carbon emissions.
The outcomes of this project are nothing short of remarkable. The adoption of the new LED Lighting system has resulted in an impressive 56% reduction in annual energy consumption, translating to substantial financial savings of approximately £2,400.00 per year.
